Job Description: Entry Level Cabling Technician

Status: Full time and Non-Exempt / Hourly

JOB SUMMARY: The Cabling Technician is responsible for assisting the lead technician with the installation, modification, repair and maintenance of voice, data, video, access control and IP camera cabling.

COMPENSATION: The pay rate for this position varies within the stated range based on relevant experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Physically assist with installing network/communication cabling

· Aid the Lead Tech with the installation of outlets, pulling cable, fire stopping and pre-termination including organizing, forming, dressing and labeling cables to industry standards

· Assisting with the removal and demolition of abandoned cables

· Attend continuing education, training and safety meetings as required, and maintain a core competence as a Technician as changes in our industry occurs.

· Read and use blueprints and floor plan with assistance from the Lead Tech.

· Employee must also be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with fellow employees, management, other trade contractors and customers.

· Work safely at all times utilizing the required Personal Protection Equipment.

· Provide professional and courtesy interaction with customer.

· Perform additional Technician and related functions as assigned by management and which management deems within the general skill and ability level of a productive Technician in our industry.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:

· Flexibility to work extended hours (2nd and 3rd shift/overtime/weekends) as needed.

· Position requires daily travel to worksites and employees must have the ability to independently get to worksites

· Must adhere to OSHA Safety Standards

· OSHA IO hour certification will be made available by management

· Must adhere to all company rules and policies.

· Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable with our auto insurance carrier during course of employment

· Obtain annual clearances: Federal, PA State Police and PA Child Abuse.

· Ability to safely utilize hand and power tools

· Ability to safely climb and execute work on ladders

· While performing the regular and traditional duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; reach with hands and arms.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit and use hands to pull cables and wires, use power tools, work in awkward positions and climb ladders and/or scaffolding.

· The employee must be able to safely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision.

· The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud and employee may be exposed to outside weather elements. These physical aspects of a Technician's position are ongoing throughout the workday and not merely occasional in nature.

· The employee must also have a current flu shot, or one can be made available to you

· In order to be compliant with policies of our health care providers and educational clients the employee must be able to provide proof of the following immunizations; Hepatitis B, Influenza, MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella), Pertussis Vaccination, Tuberculosis (TB) Test, and Varicella (Chickenpox).
