Curriculum Specialist
Location: Hybrid role (3 days in office, 2 days remote)
Reports to: Director of Curriculum and Accreditation

Position Summary:
The Curriculum Specialist is a key member of the Academic Delivery/Curriculum Team at Excel Education Systems. This role focuses on the design, development, and continuous improvement of K-12 curriculum and instructional materials. The Curriculum Specialist will work closely with educators and administrative staff to ensure course content aligns with various state standards, supports academic rigor, and meets the diverse needs of K-12 students. This position involves curriculum design, content creation, course design, course mapping, course review, and alignment to educational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Design:
- Design K-12 curriculum that aligns with educational standards and institutional goals.
- Develop instructional materials that support academic excellence and state learning objectives.
- Ensure the curriculum is inclusive and accessible for all students, including those with special needs.
Content Creation:
- Create engaging K-12 course content, including lesson plans, assessments, and multimedia resources.
- Update and revise course materials to reflect changes in state standards, trends, and advancements in K-12 education.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy and relevance to K-12 learners.
Course Design and Mapping:
- Design online K-12 courses that are user-friendly and adhere to pedagogical best practices.
- Map courses to align with state and national standards for K-12 education.
- Use instructional design principles to promote student engagement and success in K-12 learning environments.
Course Review and Alignment:
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of K-12 courses to ensure alignment with state standards and educational goals.
- Perform regular curriculum evaluations to ensure continuous improvement and relevancy.
- Align course content with multiple state standards to meet diverse state requirements.
Course Support:
- Provide ongoing support to instructors and students in utilizing course materials.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to K-12 course content and delivery.
- Offer professional development and training for educators on K-12 curriculum implementation.
Additional Duties:
- Conduct research and stay updated on best practices in K-12 curriculum development and online education.
- Collaborate with leadership and other team members on special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field, with a focus on K-12 education. Master's degree and teaching license preferred.
- Experience in K-12 math/science/STEM curriculum design and content creation, preferably in an online education setting.
- Strong knowledge of K-12 educational technology, standards, and online learning platforms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Skills:
- Proficiency in using learning management systems (LMS) and other educational technologies.
- Creative problem-solving abilities and a detail-oriented mindset.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Position is hybrid and based out of our Minnetonka headquarters.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting salary: $50K-55K/year
