What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time or Full Time Medical Assistant position at Excel Pain and Spine?
We are a new fast growing pain management clinic with multiple locations. We are looking to staff our Ellenton and surrounding locations. Our focus is on providing our patients with advanced, non-opioid based therapies for the improvement of their pain conditions. We are seeking a Front/Back office Medical Assistant who is a reliable, experienced, energetic, team-player with exceptional customer service skills, capable of providing an outstanding patient experience.
Front Office (Medical Assistant) Responsibilities:
- Speak and interact with patients, office staff and providers regarding patient care issues in a friendly and professional manner.
- Must be familiar with insurance requirements for authorizations, referrals, and medical clearances.
- Check in/out patients, schedule patient appointments and procedures accordingly.
Collect and post copays and deductibles into the electronic record.
- Verify and enter/correct patient demographic and insurance information into the electronic record. Will scan new patient registration packets into the electronic record and include a copy of the patient identification card and insurance card paying careful attention to capture any secondary insurances.
- Will prep next day charts ensuring required clearances and records have been received in good order.
- Will add UDS results to the electronic record and upload procedure images.
- May open/close the office and perform general housekeeping duties to include but not limited to changing out trash bags, wiping down and re-stocking exam rooms, changing exam table paper, and wiping down front desk counter top, etc.
Back Office (Medical Assistant) Responsibilities:
- Room patients taking histories and vital signs, preparing patients for examination and/or procedures.
- Chart and enter data into patient’s electronic record (eClinicalWorks)
- Scan and index documents accurately to patient’s electronic medical records.
- Assist physician with examinations and treatments including selected diagnostic tests.
- Collect, prepare, and send out laboratory specimens, e.g., urine drug screen samples.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by physician.
- Answer back office specific calls, seeing to it that messages are handled in a timely manner and specifically patient calls are returned prior to the end of the day.
Procedure (Medical Assistant) Responsibilities:
- We will teach/train you to use the in office fluoroscopy machine. Will assist physician with procedures;
- Will position patient for each anatomical view.
- Monitor and report any changes in patients condition to the physician
- Will monitor accessory equipment assisting physician with fluoroscopic exam/radiographic studies.
- Will determine, prepare, and set up medical supplies, instruments, and equipment for each patient as necessary.
Other Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, vendors, physicians, coworkers, and regulatory agencies. Reply to email messages, google chat messages, and telephone messages in a timely and respectful manner.
- Work directly with Physician and/or Office Manager on all aspects of practice operations and workflows.
- Participate in marketing activities and work with vendors and referring physicians as necessary.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working as a front and/or back office MA is preferred.
- Experience in Pain Management preferred.
- Strong ethical and moral character is imperative.
- Must possess a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, and forward thinking.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team is imperative.
- Must be reliable and able to show up to work on time on a daily basis.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office.
- Basic math and spelling skills. Ability to correctly alphabetize.
- Experience in working with electronic health records preferably some experience using eClinicalWorks (eCW).
Requirements
- Minimum of High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Reliable transportation and punctuality a must!
