About Excel Propane:
For the last 50 years, Excel Propane has been providing propane, with amazing customer service, to residential and commercial customers throughout West- and Mid-Michigan. We are a 2nd generation family-owned company with 5 offices and 3 refueling bulk plants in Michigan. Currently, we have around 45 team members at Excel. We pride ourselves on treating our employees and customers “like family”. The best evidence of this is the employees and customers who have been with Excel for over 30 years.

Part-time Schedule
The job is shared between two CSRs. Typically you would work 2-3 full days per week during the summer and then 2-4 full days per week during the later Fall-Winter-Spring. This schedule follows the seasonality of our business. We get much busier as the weather gets colder. More details about the schedule can be provided during the interview.
Office hours are 8am to 5pm.
Job Description:
Primary job responsibilities include:
- Customer Service: At Excel, regardless of your job title, this is your #1 responsibility. Our customers have a variety of options for propane - they choose us because of our service. We strive to exceed our customer's expectations.
- Helping Customers - the priority of the CSR position is to help our customers. This includes answering phone calls and working with walk-in customers.
- Handling customer payments, propane orders, and service requests.
- Recording customer information within our propane software.
- New customer onboarding. Providing potential customers a quote for new service and setting up new accounts in our software.
- Reconciling and creating a daily deposit.
- Printing and mailing invoices and statements.
- Everything else: We are a small business and that means we all “do it all”. From cleaning the office, to organizing the storage areas, to just being a great teammate.
The office manager will be present to help with many of the these duties especially assisting with customer requests and questions.
Job Requirements:
- Basic computer skills and aptitude.
- Friendly and helpful attitude.
- Organized
- Pass a Background Check and MVR required for all employees.
Job Benefits:
- Pay: starting $20.75/hr
- Part-time schedule: Tues, Thurs, and every-other Friday would be the initial starting schedule
- Hours: 8am - 5pm
- Retirement: After 2 years of employment, SEP-IRA fund with Excel contributing 6% - no match required.
