The Manager, Supply Chain Distribution will be responsible for the daily operations of the Storerooms, Receiving and Distribution system wide. The position will oversee all department staff and activities ensuring compliance with department, hospital and regulatory agencies policies and procedures. Interacts with various levels of health system staff to achieve optimal results. The position monitors inventory levels and the associated replenishment process to ensure proper procedures are followed and maintained. Additionally, the incumbent will collaborate with various business leaders, major vendors, and business partners to ensure Independence Health achieves best value system wide. The incumbent must drive alignment with strategic System and Group Purchasing Organization initiatives.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- The position is responsible for leading the department and accountable for overall supply distribution efficiency and effectiveness across the Health System.
- This position has direct supervisory responsibilities such as hiring, coaching/mentoring, skills development, recognition and rewards, staff productivity, performance management and succession planning.
- Equitably and consistently apply and practice policies and procedures for all staff.
- Develop and manage department budget at or below budget expectations and consistent with adjusted volume variations.
- Identify and implement revenue enhancement opportunities.
- Develop and establish department metrics/goals (fill rate, cycle counts, etc. and adhere to these expected benchmarks for each system department.
- Work in collaboration with Purchasing roles to ensure proper Days on Hand (DOH) are maintained on critical supplies, backorders are managed effectively.
- Support the recall management process by collaborating with Purchasing Recall Coordinator and other functional Hospital Departments to ensure the proper disposition and returns of any affected supplies.
- Analyze data from business system to drive operational improvements to efficiently distribute supplies throughout the system.
- Facilitate product and service standardization across Health System.
- Monitor and lead all receiving, distribution, and inventory processes system wide.
- Review and maintain all par stocking and distribution records.
- Lead with creative new ideas to drive process improvement initiatives and prioritize in collaboration with business and Supply Chain leaders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Competency and Experience [Knowledge, Skills and Abilities]
Required Qualifications/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in related field and five (5) years of Supply Chain/Distribution/Logistics experience.
- Two (2) to Four (4) years supervisory/management experience in a Distribution setting.
- Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of functional area.
- Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- Master’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operation Management or Similar discipline preferred.
- Experience in Healthcare setting.
License, Certification & Clearances
- Supply Management Certification (ISM, APICS) preferred.
- Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
- Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
