Position Summary
Provide supervisory responsibility for Housekeeping Department; establish policies, procedures, objectives and work standards.
Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions
- Select / train / orient new employees.
- Provide instruction / guidance as necessary.
- Prepare daily assignment schedules which include specific areas to be cleaned as well as established routines for each area.
- Evaluate performance and initiate or recommend personnel actions such as merit increases, disciplinary action, etc.
- Develop and maintain job descriptions for departmental staff.
- Counsel and guide staff and provide inservice training.
- Maintain Department Quality Control.
- Tour hospital environment regularly observe cleanliness, record findings and determine compliance procedures and schedules.
- Assure that all safety, health, and sanitation regulations are met.
- Introduce and instruct personnel in use of new equipment, new cleaning techniques / methods, new cleaning agents, promote efficiency in work performance and cost effective use of time, equipment and supplies.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment and prepare requisitions for replacement of items.
- Inspect housekeeping equipment for proper functioning and order maintenance and repair.
- Maintain required records, reports, statistics as directed.
- Attend required inservice and other meetings.
- Participate on committees as directed.
- Perform other duties as directed / required.

Reports to : Housekeeping Manager
Supervises : Housekeeping Aides
Schedule :
- 9 : 00am-5 : 30pm Monday-Friday
- Weekend coverage as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- management required (and / or ability to complete necessary training within first year of employment).
- Demonstrate leadership potential.
- Previous experience within a healthcare facility is preferred.
Working Conditions
Extensive walking and standing and exposed to housekeeping / cleaning agents / chemical.
