Job Summary: The Building Support Specialist is responsible for the general maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of the school building and grounds. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and Repairs:
- Address and resolve maintenance requests promptly to ensure minimal disruption to school activities.
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs when necessary.
- Facility Cleanliness:
- Oversee daily cleaning and sanitation of classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas to maintain a hygienic environment.
- Ensure proper waste disposal and recycling practices are followed.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential safety hazards and address them promptly.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to building safety and accessibility.
- Maintain records of maintenance activities, inspections, and compliance reports.
- Inventory and Supplies:
- Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, placing orders as needed to ensure availability.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Event Support:
- Assist in setting up and breaking down facilities for school events, meetings, and activities.
- Ensure that all facilities are prepared and functional for scheduled events.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in building maintenance or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or a related role.
- Proficiency in basic maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
