Job Summary
The Special Education Paraprofessional plays a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs within the classroom environment. Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in delivering instructional activities tailored to meet the individual needs of students with disabilities.
- Support students in understanding and completing assignments, ensuring they grasp essential concepts in subjects such as math and literacy.
- Implement strategies outlined in IEPs to promote student engagement and progress.
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages participation from all students, including those with autism and developmental disabilities.
- Monitor student behavior and provide guidance to help them develop social skills and appropriate interactions with peers.
- Collaborate with teachers to assess student progress and adapt teaching methods as necessary.
- Provide support during specialized instruction sessions, including deaf education or preschool programs focusing on childhood development.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and behavior, reporting any concerns to the supervising teacher.
Requirements
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs or developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of special education practices, including familiarity with IEP processes.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals on the autism spectrum.
- Strong skills in math and literacy education to assist students in these areas.
- Understanding of childhood development principles is preferred.
- Previous experience in deaf education or preschool settings is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $18.48 - $19.21 per hour
