Job Duties
As an Occupational / Physical Therapist with Certified Hand Therapist credential you will provide therapeutic interventions to prevent dysfunction restore function and/or reverse the progression of pathology of the upper limb (hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder) in order to enhance an individual's ability to perform tasks and participate fully in daily life situations. Using specialized skills in assessment, planning and treatments, CHT's assist with improving upper limb function, alleviating pain, and preventing disabilities by planning and administering medically prescribed therapy as outlined by treatment plan and in accordance with practice guidelines. A comprehensive knowledge of the structure of the upper limb is required.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy/ Physical Therapy.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an occupational physical therapist with 4,000 hours in direct practice in hand therapy.
- Active Maryland OT or PT license
- American Heart Association’s BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation) certification. • Successful completion of the CHT (Certified Hand Therapist) exam as administered by the HTCC.
- Every CHT is required to demonstrate continued professional development and competency by recertifying every five years.

Physical/Mental Requirements
This position requires periods of extensive sitting and phone work. It also requires other repetitive motions (e.g., bending, stooping, twisting, walking, standing, reaching overhead, pushing or pulling). Manual dexterity is required, as is the ability to concentrate on detail amid other activity. Lifting a maximum of 20 pounds.
