Job Duties
Surgical Scheduling (50%)
- Schedules surgery procedures
- Obtain authorizations for procedures as needed
- Answers phones in a professional and courteous manner
- Completes post-op data entry in a timely and accurate manner
- Completes daily surgical schedule and distributes as appropriate
- Assures appropriate coordination with hospitals, surgical centers, and internal staff when special surgical needs occur
- Other duties as assigned
Administrative Support (50%)
- Completes departmental filing
- Obtain and manage PIP applications for patients who sustained motor vehicle accidents
- Serve as liaison between patient reps and attorneys, Priority Care pharmacy, et. al
- Assists in clerical support functions including but not limited to: maintaining departmental records and files, preparing documents and correspondence, organizing inventory of office supplies and forms, and designing forms, graphs, etc.
- Assists with chart documentation
- Assists with patient scheduling, registration and insurance verifications and obtaining authorization and/or referral for appointments
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 2 -3 years of experience in a medical office or related setting with computer experience desired
- Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical diagnostic procedures, and health care billing and authorization is required
- Prior experience with insurance verification and scheduling is required
- Office Experience: general, scheduling, telephone skills, typing, business knowledge, organization, time management, customer service, verbal communication, PC proficiency, reporting skills
- Knowledge of HIPAA/Confidentiality
- Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented
- Medical receptionist: 1 year (required)
- Computer Skills: familiar with Excel, Word, Windows at least 1 year required

Physical/Mental Requirements
This position requires periods of extensive sitting and phone work. It also requires other repetitive motions (e.g., bending, stooping, twisting, walking, standing, reaching overhead, pushing or pulling). Manual dexterity is required, as is the ability to concentrate on detail amid other activity. Lifting a maximum of 20 pounds.
