Job Duties

  • Coding
  • Making sure that codes are assigned correctly and sequenced appropriately as per government and insurance regulations
  • Complying with medical coding guidelines and policies
  • Receiving and reviewing patients' documents for verification and accuracy
  • Following up and clarifying any information that is not clear to other staff members
  • Keeping current with quarterly and annual coding updates and communicating to relevant staff
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Auditing
  • Implementing strategic procedures and choosing strategies and evaluation methods that provide correct results
  • Provider Auditing according to the company policies
  • Reporting audit results to the Upper Management
  • Communicating with providers and providing necessary training
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • AHIMA or AAPC certification, current and in good standing required
  • Working knowledge of insurance guidelines and billing and collection procedures

Additional Skills/Competencies

  • Certified Auditor preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computer applications, including Windows, Outlook, and Microsoft Office
  • Problem solving and organizational skills
  • Typing - 50 WPM
  • Knowledge of insurance plans, workers' compensation, and personal injury
  • Ability to effectively interact with doctors, attorneys, patients, and co-workers

Physical/Mental Requirements

Sitting, standing, walking, reaching above shoulder length, working with body bent over at waist, working in kneeling position, climbing stairs, climbing ladders, working with arms extended at shoulder length, lifting maximum of 20 lbs.
