What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at Excelsior Mining, Inc.?
Gunnison Copper is seeking an Accountant at its operations at Johnson Camp Mine / Gunnison Project located in southeastern Arizona between the cities of Benson and Willcox.
This is a general accounting role working across multiple accounting areas and GL accounts. Reporting to the Accounting Superintendent, this position will be responsible for assisting in various accounting and accounts payable tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Project accounting and journal entries; fixed asset accounting
- Sales and Accounts Receivable
- Inventory accounting
- Full cycle of accounts payable by receiving payments, processing, verifying and reconciling invoices, and obtaining approval
- Communicate with vendors regarding invoice and statement discrepancies, and missing invoices
- Data entry of invoices in an accurate and timely manner
- Assist in investigating unusual transactions
- Maintain organized and accurate records of financial transactions
- Reconciliation and review of vendor statements to ensure all invoices have been handled
- Assist in maintaining and updating vendor records, including setting up new vendors
- Manage communications and inquiries with vendors and internal team members
- Supporting continuous process improvement to increase efficiency, operating quality, and workload capacity
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of accounting, accounts payable, and transaction processing experience
- Deadline-driven and capable of completing tasks in a timely matter with limited supervision
- Excellent attention to detail, proactively following up when needed to ensure outstanding information or actions are completed on time
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
