Reporting to the Director of Talent Acquisition and Management, the Talent Acquisition Specialist plays a key role in the creation and implementation of effective recruiting practices and oversees the full cycle recruiting process for staff, faculty, and part-time/clinical faculty. The role requires awareness of the University’s functions and roles, awareness of recruiting best practices and the ability to carry out high-volume, fast-paced tasks including, but not limited to search committee support, telephone screens, background checks and offer negotiations. Additionally, this role supports and implements improvements to new hire orientation, distributes the new hire survey, and works closely with other members of the Human Resources team to create a welcoming and seamless onboarding experience. This position requires the ability to maintain confidentiality, strong critical thinking skills, positive communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines, and the ability to form strong working relationships with staff across the University.
This is a full-time hybrid role with a minimum of two required days at Excelsior's home office of 7 Columbia Circle, Albany, NY, with the remainder of the days worked from home.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the recruitment and onboarding of part-time faculty while participating in faculty strategy discussions.
- Assist in developing and refining recruiting policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure hiring managers and stakeholders understand the process. Recommend improvements to enhance the university’s talent acquisition efforts.
- Assist with recruiting-related materials, including position descriptions, job posting templates, interview questions, agendas, and evaluation forms.
- Manage job postings across various platforms (HigherEdJobs, LinkedIn, Excelsior University website, etc.) and maintain listings within the university’s HRIS system (UKGPro).
- Collaborate with hiring managers and search committees to ensure compliance with recruitment processes, educate them on their roles, and implement continuous improvements.
- Maintain accurate employee records while handling internal personnel moves and status changes.
- Facilitate intake meetings with search committees, providing top-tier customer service to hiring managers and search chairs throughout the recruitment process.
- Coordinate onsite and virtual interviews, handling scheduling, candidate greetings, interview documentation, and follow-ups.
- Extend job offers and oversee the onboarding process, including document review and secure uploading.
- Ensure screening, pre-employment checks, and hiring procedures align with compliance standards and reinforce Excelsior University’s employment branding.
- Provide new hires with essential materials and coordinate their participation in first-day sessions and monthly orientation programs.
- Perform additional duties and contribute to special projects as needed.

- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field and/or an associate’s degree with a minimum of 1-2 years of recruitment, human resources or other related experience in a professional setting.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with HR systems preferred.
The hiring salary range for this position is $50,000.00 - $55,000.00. The hiring salary range above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting.
