Position Overview:
EXCELth, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Accountant I – Accounts Payable to support the day-to-day financial operations of our multi-entity healthcare organization. This position plays a critical role in the Accounts Payable (AP) department, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of payment processing, vendor management, and financial compliance. The ideal candidate has a strong background in payable accounts, general ledger functions, and grant-related compliance, and can thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Payable Accounts & General Accounting
- Process fullcycle accounts payable across multiple organizational entities.
- Review, validate, and accurately post vendor invoices with proper coding and supporting documentation.
- Resolve vendor inquiries, disputes, and discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure all disbursements comply with internal controls, procurement procedures, and grant requirements.
- Reconcile accounts payable by subledgers with the general ledger on a monthly basis.
- Prepare and post journal entries related to payables, accruals, and monthend close.
- Maintain auditready records and documentation for all AP transactions.
Cross-Functional Payroll & Financial Support
- Assist with biweekly payroll processing, including reconciliation of payrollrelated payables (e.g., garnishments, benefits, 403B).
- Generate payrollrelated journal entries for accurate financial reporting and grant allocation.
- Support W2 reconciliation and yearend payroll closeout in coordination with the payroll team.
- Collaborate with HR and department managers on timekeeping issues and employeerelated inquiries.
Audit, Compliance & Reporting
- Support internal and external audits, including preparation of AP schedules, documentation, and reconciliations.
- Assist with financial reporting related to grants, contracts, and restricted funds.
- Monitor and review expenditures to ensure alignment with budget and funding guidelines.
- Maintain proper documentation and tracking for procurement and vendor contracts.
Administrative & Departmental Support
- Maintain vendor files, ensuring W9s, contracts, and payment terms are up to date.
- Assist in monitoring procurement workflows and staff time allocations as needed.
- Perform bank reconciliations and assist with tracking travel reports and reimbursements.
- Provide backup and support to the payroll and receivables teams during critical processing periods.
- Recommend improvements to enhance AP processes, reduce errors, and increase efficiency.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 35 years of accounts payable experience, preferably within a nonprofit or healthcare organization.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with general ledger reconciliations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience using Paychex, Intergy, or Greenway Health systems.
- Knowledge of healthcare finance, including 340B programs, medical billing, and grantfunded expenditures.
- Familiarity with federal and state compliance requirements for nonprofit financial operations.
- Experience supporting audits, funder site visits, or financial desk reviews.
