Self-Direction Community Habilitation DSP - East Syracuse Area (Job #AMC-SP)

Exceptional Family Resources is seeking a part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide Community Habilitation working with a friendly, 58-year-old woman in the East Syracuse area. She is looking for an outgoing, dedicated staff to assist her with maintaining her independence both at home and in community settings.

Some of her goals require support with money management, cooking skills and strengthening her literacy skills. She chooses to live a healthy lifestyle and appreciates encouragement from staff to stay active, get exercise and eat well. She likes to get out into the community for social gatherings and events and would like to explore new opportunities of interest. She enjoys music, bowling, billiards, dining out and meeting friends to socialize. She would also require staff support with her medical appointments and when she brings her beloved cat to his veterinary appointments.

She is seeking staff for Monday mornings into the afternoon, and Wednesdays beginning at 12:00pm. Additional shifts may be available, schedule to be agreed upon with her and her sister. The pay is $22.00 per hour, up to 16 hours per week available.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assistance with independent living skills, support with health and safety and pursuing personal interests. Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities a plus but not required. A reliable vehicle and a valid NYS driver's license are required. Background check, fingerprinting and DMV record check will be conducted prior to hire by the non-profit agency. EFR is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

All new hires must complete five-hour initial training; the pay rate for the initial training is $16.50/hour.
