Self-Direction DSP - North Syracuse area (Job #RC-MM)

Exceptional Family Resources is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to work with a man in his early 30s that lives in the North Syracuse area independently in his own apartment. This individual is looking for a dedicated and dependable staff to assist them with maintaining their independence both at home and in community settings. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with meal prep, light housekeeping, and providing opportunities for speaking up and advocating for himself.

This individual can be shy and asks that staff encourage them to come out of their shell and explore activities of interest in the community and at home. He is a fan of video games, computers and electronics, watching action movies and documentaries, and being active outdoors when the weather is nice.

We are looking for individuals who are reliable, patient, creative, and enthusiastic. Prior experience is a plus but willing to train. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license is required.

Hiring for many shifts with flexibility:

Monday through Friday: approximately from 10am-3pm each day

Individual and family are willing to consider different schedule/shifts for the right applicant. The pay rate is $20 per hour.

All new hires must complete a five-hour initial training. The pay rate for the initial training is $16.50/hour.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to work independently in the person's home and/or community.
• Reliable with effective communication and organizational skills
• No experience required but experience working with people with disabilities preferred.
• New York State Driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance is required; acceptable driving record required.
• Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community.
