What are the responsibilities and job description for the Job Coach position at Exceptional Foresters, Inc.?
Job Coach
Note: While this job can be performed in the community and from home, candidates must live in or close to the Mason/Thurston County area.
Do you like to be on the move? We may have the perfect position for you! We are based in Shelton and provide services and operate in both Mason and Thurston Counties.
Our coaches provide support to folks with varying disabilities in the community. In this role, we are looking for someone who is able to coach and mentor our clients at their jobs. Some people are brand new and are just learning; some have been at their place of employment for some time and need on-going supports. Others need our support for safety reasons. The cool part about this role is that you and your client(s) are constantly growing and evolving and you get to be an integral part of the team on their path to independence.
In addition to working with people at their jobs, you will also be able to work with folks who aren't working but want to participate in their communities and develop relationships with people who have similar interests. Folks who participate in Community Inclusion participate in all types of activities and this program is much more recreational in nature. The goal is to help facilitate these activities and relationships and ensure that our clients can be as independent as possible.
Qualifications:
- You enjoy writing! In this role, you'll write case notes and reports as well as help clients with identifying SMART goals.
- You are creative, think outside of the box and are solutions focused.
- You can coach and mentor.
- You enjoy working independently but appreciate, value and seek out support when needed.
- Ideally, you have experience working with marginalized populations; if not, no problem but you should be compassionate, a great listener and be mission-focused.
- You enjoy people from various walks of life and have the ability to adapt to whatever setting you are in.
- You're able to work in a team environment. While a large portion of what you do is independent, developing positive, working relationships with your co-workers is very important in this job.
- Communication! The ability to interact and communicate is really important in this position. Also, not everyone we work with uses language to communicate - an open mind and a willingness to learn and see things from someone else's perspective is key.
