Location: Rodeo Shop at the Stockyard
Job Summary:
The Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing daily store operations, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow while providing exceptional customer service. This role includes opening and closing duties, inventory management, merchandising, and leading the team to uphold store standards. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, reliable, and possess strong leadership skills to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Opening Duties (Morning Shift)
- Ensure all lights are turned on and doors remain locked until official opening time.
- Prepare the store for customers by unlocking doors, opening blinds, and turning on the ATM and OPEN sign.
- Set up A-frame signs outside the store.
- Verify the cash drawer balance and report any variances.
- Perform light cleaning tasks, including emptying trash, vacuuming, and a weekly deep-clean.
- Organize merchandise and ensure the sales floor is neat and fully stocked.
Closing Duties (Evening Shift)
- Conduct a full store check to ensure all customers have exited before locking doors.
- Turn off OPEN and ATM signs, bring in A-frame signs, and close blinds.
- Close the register, verify balances, and run Lightspeed reports.
- Secure the cash drop in the upstairs safe.
- Ensure unfolded merchandise is gathered for the next shift.
- Turn off all unnecessary lights while keeping designated security lighting on.
Daily Operations & Customer Engagement
- Provide a welcoming atmosphere by greeting every customer with a smile and engaging with them throughout their visit.
- Actively assist customers, promote sales, and provide product recommendations.
- Keep a running list of customer requests for items not in stock and report to the manager.
- Maintain a clean and organized sales floor by folding, straightening, and replenishing merchandise.
- Remove empty hangers and keep racks neat.
- Verify product pricing, tag new inventory, and mark down slow-moving items as directed.
- Perform daily cleaning tasks, including dusting fixtures and merchandise.
- Request additional trash pickups as needed and communicate store supply needs to the manager.
- Leave a detailed shift report or “to-do” list for the next shift.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Previous retail experience required; leadership experience preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly.
- Comfortable working independently and leading small teams.
- Basic understanding of inventory management and merchandising.
- Proficiency with Lightspeed POS or willingness to learn.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs as needed.
- Comfortable with repetitive tasks such as folding merchandise and cleaning.
