An armed security officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment by actively patrolling the premises, monitoring access points, responding to emergencies, enforcing security protocols, and utilizing their firearm when necessary to protect students, staff, and visitors, all while adhering to strict guidelines and collaborating with church leadership to ensure the safety of the congregation and school community. Key Responsibilities:
- Security Patrols:Conduct regular foot patrols of the school and church grounds, checking for suspicious activity, potential security breaches, and ensuring all doors and windows are properly secured.
- Access Control:Monitor entry points, verify identification of visitors, and control access to restricted areas.
- Emergency Response:Respond promptly to incidents such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, active shooter situations, and suspicious behavior, taking appropriate action to neutralize threats and ensure safety.
- Incident Reporting:Document all security incidents, suspicious activity, and safety concerns in detailed reports, including time, location, and description of events.
- Crowd Management:Assist in managing large gatherings and crowds during events, ensuring orderly flow and addressing potential disruptions.
- Communication:Maintain open communication with church and school staff, local law enforcement, and security command center to coordinate security operations and share critical information.
- Weapon Proficiency:Maintain proficiency in the safe handling and use of assigned firearms, including regular training and qualifications.
- Security Protocols Enforcement:Enforce established security policies and procedures, including visitor guidelines, building access protocols, and emergency evacuation plans.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid state-issued armed security guard license
- Proven experience in security operations, preferably in a school or religious setting
