$65/hour for co-facilitating; $45/ hour for workshop planning
Please note - travel time is not compensated
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Workshop Assistant to support the facilitation of workshops for special educators in Marin County. The Assistant must be engaging, creative, and committed to creating an impactful workshop experience for participants. As a Workshop Assistant, you will collaborate with the lead facilitator to ensure smooth delivery of workshop activities and an exceptional participant experience. This is a contractor position with flexible opportunities, ideal for someone with prior experience in education or workshop facilitation.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Previous experience facilitating workshops, preferably for school districts.
- Familiarity with school district systems, policies, and processes to effectively support special educators.
- Experience or familiarity with special education is highly valued but not required.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, including assertive communication and the ability to address concerns directly and constructively.
- Excellent calendar management skills to handle scheduling commitments.
- He/ she enjoys interacting with others and builds connections quickly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in workshop planning meetings.
- Help facilitate group activities, maintaining participants' engagement during workshops.
- Design and lead icebreaker activities.
- Support participants throughout the workshop.
- Responsible for gathering and organizing workshop supplies as needed.
- Create posters and other materials under the lead facilitator’s direction.
- Take photos during the workshop for records.
- Review and contribute to workshop plans as needed.
- Assist with tailoring activities and materials to suit the diverse needs of special educators, ensuring responsiveness to their feedback and requirements.
Additional Information:
This role will remain a per-project contractor position, even with the possibility of expanded responsibilities.
As much advance notice as possible will be provided for upcoming projects or workshops. It is the contractor’s responsibility to communicate promptly whether they wish to participate. Please ensure that once engaged for a workshop, you can follow through.
Effective and timely communication is imperative in the planning and facilitation process. Communication regarding upcoming projects will be conducted via text or email. Please be available to engage in either method of contact.
The contractor is responsible for providing their own equipment and materials necessary to fulfill their role, such as transportation, phone, and Zoom for Remote planning meetings.
Feedback will be provided as needed to ensure alignment with project goals.
The contractor will submit an itemized invoice for their time at the end of each month for payment. Invoices should be sent to sean@efspecialists.com. Payment will be made within 10 days of receipt.
Start Date:
Mid-February. This position is open-ended, with opportunities provided as project needs arise.
