Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Java Developer with expertise in AWS and Kafka to join our team for a contract position. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the banking or financial domain, with over 12 years of professional experience in software development.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java applications within a complex, high-availability cloud environment utilizing AWS services.

- Implement and manage distributed processing streams using Apache Kafka, ensuring data integrity and resilience.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features and enhancements.

- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems for optimal performance and user experience.

- Adhere to best practices in software development, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, and testing.

- Participate in architectural and technical design discussions to build scalable and robust solutions.

- Maintain high levels of security and compliance in all aspects of the software development lifecycle.

Qualifications:

- A minimum of 12 years of professional experience in Java development.

- Strong proficiency in AWS (Amazon Web Services) with a deep understanding of core services and best practices.

- Extensive experience with Apache Kafka including stream processing and platform management.

- Solid understanding of database systems, both SQL and NoSQL.

- Proven experience within the banking or financial services industry is required.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Requirements:

- Must be able to work three days onsite in New York, NY.

- Only candidates local to NY and NJ will be considered for this position.

- Successful completion of an in-person second-round interview.
