Quality Control Specialist – Heat Treat
General Purpose of Job
Assists and supports Quality Engineers through destructive testing, durability testing, data collection, data analysis, countermeasure investigations and audits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities described below are subject to management discretion and may be changed at any time based upon corporate need, reasonable accommodations, or the specialist skill level. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor or manager of this position.
- Audits manufacturing processes to assure compliance to established system standards. These include all condition changes along with daily, weekly, and monthly inspections
- Use of test equipment and gauging to include but not limited to (hardness tester, micro vickers, saws, Naoh tester, steam tester, dial indicator, caliper, and height gauge).
- Uses Quality Assurance/Control tools to improve product quality
- Performs various destructive and non-destructive testing
- Initiates and conducts follow-up on countermeasure
- Collects SPC data and reviews when directed by Quality Supervisor, Quality Manager or Quality Engineer
- Recommends revisions to quality system (MQC, WI, etc.) in order to improve company-wide quality

Education and/or Experience
§ Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical institution; or 3-5 years Quality experience, preferably in automotive manufacturing. Ability to read and interpret basic blue prints is required.

Must clearly distinguish visual differences in parts and be able to compare parts to visual standards. Examples: Must conduct visual evaluation, including studying photographs, evidence of metal microstructure, weld penetration, and material defects such as cracks and pits. Must review quality records, data sheets and SPC charts. Inspection of torque converters requires lifting.
