Overview :
The Shipping and Receiving Customer Service Representative plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless flow of goods, resolving customer inquiries, and supporting logistics processes. They are responsible for managing shipments, coordinating deliveries, and addressing customer concerns related to shipping and receiving.
Key Responsibilities :
Customer Interaction
Address customer inquiries regarding shipments, delivery schedules, and order statuses promptly and professionally.
Resolve customer complaints related to shipping, such as delays, damaged items, or incorrect orders.
Provide shipping cost estimates and delivery information.
Shipping and Receiving Operations
Coordinate the receipt, inspection, and verification of incoming shipments.
Prepare and process outbound shipments, including packing, labeling, and documentation.
Ensure accuracy in the data entry of shipping and receiving logs, inventory, and orders.
Logistics Coordination
Work with carriers and freight companies to schedule pick-ups and deliveries.
Monitor shipping timelines to ensure timely delivery and resolve any delays.
Track shipments and provide updates to customers and relevant departments.
Knowledge of International shipping procedures and policies is a plus.
Inventory Management
Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and report any discrepancies.
Support warehouse staff in organizing and stocking inventory efficiently.
Collaborate with inventory teams to ensure product availability.
Documentation and Compliance
Generate and maintain shipping-related documentation, including invoices, bills of lading, and customs forms when needed.
Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations regarding shipping, handling, and safety standards.
Qualifications and Skills :
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
Education : High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in logistics or customer service are a plus.
Experience : Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or customer service preferred.
Technical Skills :
Proficiency in shipping software, inventory management systems, and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
Familiarity with shipping carriers and logistics platforms.
Soft Skills :
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of UPS trackpad helpful.
Working Conditions :
The work schedule generally consists of 40 hours per week, which may include on-call status, evenings, and / or weekends.
A combination of office work and warehouse floor activity is needed.
May require lifting packages up to [weight limit, e.g., 50 lbs] and operating basic warehouse equipment.
Work with forklift, pallet jack and powered industrial truck (PIT).
Coordinate / sort received items for pickup and delivery of packages to customers throughout the building and campus.
Stand for long periods of time, heavy lifting.
Pay Disclosure :
The pay for this position starts at $18.00 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonus opportunities may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered."
