About the Role:
As a Firewall Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and integrity of the organization's network infrastructure by designing, implementing, and maintaining firewall solutions. You will work closely with IT security teams, network engineers, and other stakeholders to develop and enforce firewall policies, monitor network traffic, and respond to security incidents to protect against unauthorized access, cyber threats, and data breaches.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Qualifications
Knowledge of Cisco ASA/PIX & Fortinet, including policy management and VPN creation and management and trouble shooting.
Understanding of NIST security protocols and process and ability to apply for, acquire and maintain NAC clearance. Preference given to persons currently possessing an active clearance in JPAS.
Ability to troubleshoot remotely
Ability to work with customers and vendors IT teams to trouble shoot complex issues.
Ability to work with internal teams to roll out new projects and trouble shoot issues.
Minimum Of 5 Years Check Point Firewall Administration Experience.
Minimum of 7 years of Network trouble shooting and management experience.
Candidate must demonstrate in depth knowledge in one of the following areas:
Network Security
Preferred Experience
IDS/IPS management and monitoring.

Essential Job Responsibilities
- Firewall Design and Implementation: Design, configure, and deploy firewall solutions, including hardware firewalls, software firewalls, and next-generation firewalls (NGFW), based on business requirements and security best practices.
- Firewall Policy Management: Develop and enforce firewall policies, rules, and access control lists (ACLs) to control inbound and outbound network traffic, manage application access, and prevent unauthorized access to sensitive systems and data.
- Network Security Monitoring: Monitor firewall logs, network traffic, and security alerts to identify and investigate potential security incidents, anomalies, and threats, and implement corrective actions or countermeasures as needed.
- Security Incident Response: Respond to security incidents, breaches, and vulnerabilities related to firewall configurations, network access controls, and perimeter defenses, and collaborate with incident response teams to contain, mitigate, and remediate security incidents.
- Firewall Performance Optimization: Optimize firewall performance, throughput, and latency by fine-tuning firewall configurations, optimizing rule sets, and implementing traffic shaping and load balancing techniques to ensure optimal network security and performance.
- Security Compliance and Auditing: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal security policies related to firewall configurations, network segmentation, and access controls, and participate in security audits and assessments as needed.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Document firewall configurations, network diagrams, and security policies, procedures, and guidelines, and provide training and knowledge sharing sessions to IT teams and end-users on firewall best practices and security awareness.
- Vendor Management: Liaise with firewall vendors, security product vendors, and service providers to evaluate, procure, and implement firewall solutions, and stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and developments in firewall technology.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or related field required; master's degree preferred.
- Experience in network security engineering, firewall administration, or related role, with hands-on experience in designing, configuring, and managing firewall solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of firewall technologies, including Cisco ASA, Palo Alto Networks, Check Point, Juniper, and Fortinet firewalls, and proficiency in firewall management tools and platforms.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, OSI model, VPN technologies, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and network security concepts.
- Industry certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Firewall Analyst (CFA), or equivalent certifications preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze network traffic, firewall logs, and security alerts to identify and respond to security incidents effectively.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and provide training and support to IT teams and end-users.
