PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Distribution Automation (DA) position is specifically for the office engineering role with the Distribution Automation Engineering (DAE) team and will have a more Information Technology (IT) focus. The successful DA candidate will concentrate on working with communication networks, servers, databases, and other IT-related functions that support our DA programs. They will be a liaison between IT groups such as UCOMM and BSC-IT as well as equivalent vendor IT groups.
\nThey will also be a key strategic partner internally working with other DA engineers towards the implementation of DA technologies such as automatic sectionalization and reclosing schemes (ASR), reclosers, sectionalizers, capacitor controls, underground network remote monitoring systems, underground interrupting switches, smart sensor faulted circuit indicators, and voltage regulator control. Additionally, we work with the latest utility network communication technologies and data protocols relating to radio, telecom, serial and ethernet, fiber, mirrored bits, Pi, PMU, SCADA, DNP3, and IEC 61850 GOOSE.
\nThe DA philosophy is the makeup of the devices and systems utilized to automatically support the protection, isolation, and restoration of the 34kV, 12kV, and 4kV voltage level distribution system outside of the substation boundary. Therefore, the DA organizational core functions are to design protection schemes to enhance resiliency and stability of distribution system, perform real-time analysis of device operations, perform predictive analytics and fault locates, perform relay protection settings testing in a lab environment, review Project Diagrams (PDs), and manage deployment of DA devices to support the DA philosophy.
\nPosition may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Responsible and accountable for the identification, planning, design, build, and maintenance of highly integrated engineering & information technology solutions. \n
- Evaluates, develops, implements and leads IT integration tasks required to fully deliver the engineering solution focused on the business need and objective. \n
- Interface with external and internal stakeholders to coordinate project requirements while communicating with the sponsor and key stakeholders on project issues, including executive level and interdepartmental presentations. \n
- Provide budget recommendations and monitor performance for the accomplishment of committed results. \n
- Coaches and leads team members to ensure completion of assigned tasks. \n
- Identify and obtain project team resources. \n
- Maintain technical knowledge and business acumen within own discipline or function. \n
JOB SCOPE
The Senior Engineering Solutions Specialist is an individual contributor accountable for engineering solution projects with high degrees of information technology requirement and integration. This position acts as the bridge championing the core business need and objective leading the design and implementation of information technology solutions centrally or implementing them directly within the core engineering design. Tasks include but are not limited to, ensuring the completion of business cases, budgetary approvals, project scheduling, design and engineering tasks, project reporting, project financial analysis, major solution design, implementation, and maintenance.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or related discipline and a minimum of 5 - 8 years relevant experience OR minimum of 9 to 12 years relevant experience in lieu of a 4-year degree. \n
- Strong knowledge of business practices and processes in the engineering functions \n
- Demonstrated and documented success at managing projects with IT integration and solutions experience \n
- Ability to work independently and as a team leader including the ability to handle conflicting priorities in a multitask environment. \n
- Demonstrated strong independent judgment skills. \n
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and time management skills. \n

- Professional Engineer License \n
