Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Care and ClinicalTechnician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare by following strict protocols and guidelines to maintain high ethical standards. This role involves providing essential support in the care and management of animals involved in research, ensuring their health and well-being in a safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Administer necessary treatments
- Assist in research protocols
- Provide daily care for animals including feeding, cleaning, breeding, farrowing, weaning and observation
- Obtain necessary tissue and data to provide to internal and external research organizations
- Maintain detailed and accurate records for animal treatment, observation, and inventory
- Work as a team to accomplish the tasks required for the day
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in animal housing areas, to prevent contamination and disease spread
- Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to the team.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations related to animal handling.
Experience
Candidates should possess experience or skills in the following areas:
- BS/BA in Animal Science or other related field, or equivalent experience
- Training in laboratory procedures and animal care guidelines (AWA and AAALAC)
- Knowledge of AAALAC requirements and GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) procedures utilized in research involving animals
- Prior Experience in neonatal piglet and adult pig care preferred
- Experience with Word, and Excel is desired
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
