Chief Radiologic Tech

Under the direction of the Director of Diagnostic Imaging oversees all operations of the Radiology section. Is expected to function with initiative and independent judgment. Works with the supervising Radiologist to create protocols and to monitor the technical quality of all exams. Serves as the immediate supervisor to all Radiographers and Imaging Aides in the Radiology Department.

Requirements:

• Post Secondary Education or equivalent  
• ARRT registered

Major Responsibilities:

1. Meets all requirements of a staff Radiographer.
2. Participates in the development of staffing and organization; operating plans and programs; policies and procedures; work methods and performance standards.
3. Schedules and directs the work of the employees under his/her supervisory control: orients and trains; assures observance of policies; procedures; work standards; checks for proper work completion; takes corrective action as needed.
4. Responsible for all safety regulations in the Radiology Department.
5. Participates in making decisions for equipment upgrades and replacement.
6. Conducts performance appraisals for staff. Recommends promotion; discipline and other actions. Discusses; with Department Director; any unresolved problems and recommends action as necessary.
7. Assists Department Director with the formulation of departmental budget.
8. Is responsible for the procurement; storage and routing of supplies.
9. Participates in departmental supervisory meetings; Hospital committees and special projects.
10. Prepares timesheets for Radiology in Kronos.
