What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transporter Central Sterile position at Exeter Hospital?
Reporting to the CSS Supervisor, the Central Sterile Transporter is a critical member of Central Sterile Supply (CSS), providing customer service support and inventory management to EH Operating Rooms, hospital departments and Core Practices. Primary duties include the responsible and effective transport of instruments and equipment, daily receiving, breakdown, distribution and stocking of department supplies.
Requirements:
- High School or GED
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong communication skills
- Required: Working knowledge of computers. Organized with attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the effective and efficient transport (both drop‑off and pick‑up) of instruments for hospital departments and Core offices.
2. Act as the department liaison between the main OR and the OSC for the transportation of instruments and equipment between departments.
3. Monitor, order, and restock storeroom supplies in the Main and OSC CSS.
4. Specialty cart/tray delivery, restock and monitor expirations.
5. Unloading of cart washers, return of case carts.
6. Unloading of sterilizer racks; putting away of instrument trays including total trays.
7. Answering phone calls/door bell; relaying messages accurately and timely.
8. Performs environmental cleaning and organization based on departmental needs and requirements.
9. Pick instruments for surgical cases.
10. Complete other daily tasks as requested and assigned.
