Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Principal, to provide education and intervention to help students develop social/emotional skills in response to issue they face in order to achieve academic success.

Qualifications Profile

Essential Performance Responsibilities:
- Provide education on understanding self and others, including peer relationships, coping strategies and effective social skills. Familiarization with Purposefull People curriculum.
- Promote Bullying prevention and awareness.
- Provide education on diveristy awareness, character education and career awareness.
- Coordinates with administrators and other teaching staff members to ascertain individual student's abilities and needs, including students with special needs, and to familiarize stakeholders with guidance services. Familiarization with DESSA, HSA screening preferred.
- Serves as ready resource to students to provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research, and by maintaining professional relationships with members of institutions of higher learning and the business community.
- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and data collection.
- As a member of the school based Child Study Team, collaborate and consult with other team members in order to support students struggling to find academic success and/or emotional regulation.
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents. Assist families in securing community supports as needed.
- Assists in the orientation of new teachers, and provides in-service training in guidance.

- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Qualifications Profile
- Certification/License:
- NH State Certification as a School Counselor
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
- Masters Degree preferred.
