What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinarian position at Exeter Veterinary Hospital?
Exeter Veterinary Hospital is looking for a full or part time veterinarian. EVH has been providing compassionate quality veterinary care to the NH seacoast communities for over 50 years. At our hospital, clients and families return to us pet upon pet, generation after generation. New staff hired will be replacing long-term staff moving on to retirement as well as expanding and growing our services and our client volume. The practice remains a decidedly non-corporate environment, independently owned and continually growing in our equipment and services. The practice owner is ABVP certified in canine and feline practice.
The perfect fit would be a progressive veterinarian with an excellent knowledge base and skill set, ideally with at least 2-3 years of experience. The practice has a full in-house diagnostic lab (as well as access to a full complement of outside laboratory services), digital radiology and dental radiology. Ultrasound and echocardiograms are regularly available through traveling specialists. A full surgical suite allows for routine surgeries, while more complex surgical procedures can be completed in-house with a traveling surgeon. We routinely see many of our own emergencies and urgent visits, but excellent referral options are available nearby.
The NH seacoast is a beautiful area of the country, providing access to the Atlantic Ocean as well as innumerable lakes and mountains. Exeter is located within an hour of the larger cities of Boston MA and Portland ME, while Portsmouth NH is only 15 minutes away.
Schedule, salary and benefits are negotiable and can be individualized to meet your and the practice’s needs. A full-time schedule would consist of a 3.5 to 4 day work week. The full-time salary for a qualified applicant would be at least in the $120K range (and commensurate with experience and skills), and can be structured to be flat salary or pro-sal. 3 weeks paid time off, access to 401K plan, 2 choices of health insurance plans including HSA and CE allowance as well as personal pet discount include some of the many benefits offered.
A valid NH veterinary license is required. Good interpersonal skills, a sense of humor, a strong work ethic as well as logical problem based critical thinking, excellent diagnostic interpretation skills and abilities in soft tissue surgery and dentistry will make you a perfect fit for our collaborative work environment. If there is a desire for more or less surgery/dentistry in your workload, that can be accommodated as well.
