What are the responsibilities and job description for the Principal Metcalf Elementary School (Exeter-West Greenwich, Grades 2-6) position at Exeter-West Greenwich Regional School District?
Exeter-West Greenwich is searching for a dynamic instructional leader for Metcalf Elementary, our only grades 2-6 school. The school is staffed with an assistant principal, 3.0 reading specialists, a 1.0 math interventionist, 2.0 school psychologists, a 1.0 social worker, 2.0 speech therapists and additional part-time clinical/support staff (including a guidance counselor, an occupational therapist and a behavior therapist). The front office is staffed with a secretary and two additional clerks.The principal will work collaboratively with district and other building level administrators to advance the major goals and objectives of Exeter-West Greenwich schools, as outlined in the district's strategic plan. Specific areas of focus include: Implementation of High-Quality Curriculum Materials in ELA, Mathematics and ScienceInclusive instructional practicesResponsive classroomInstructional technology integrationData-based decision makingEducator Evaluation MTSS (both academic and social-emotional learning)Building and monitoring a strong school improvement plan aligned to the District's strategic planEnhancing school culture and moraleThe principal must play an active role in developing a shared sense of leadership among all stakeholders.The principal should be highly visible and should work with the staff and individual teachers to improve instructional/assessment practices and to support professional growth.The principal must engage meaningfully with the communities and must work to highlight and promote the positive learning experience provided by our elementary school.The principal must manage the total program of Metcalf Elementary School, including staffing, scheduling, budgeting, programming and community/family outreach and supports.Most importantly, the principal works with all other stakeholders to provide a supportive, responsive and engaging academic and social experience for ALL students who attend the school.
