Position Purpose
Serves as a highly independent senior departmental leader, responsible for effective cross-functional coordination of campus events and functions. Leadership role includes determining and implementing logistical requirements including communication and planning with senior campus leadership. Provides primary leadership and administration for the custodial services team, ensuring appropriate standards and processes are in place to maintain the appropriate level of cleanliness for campus facilities.
Job Responsibilities
Provides leadership for the high tempo planning and execution of major and minor campus events, including meeting with senior campus leaders to determine event goals, working across departments and within facilities management / campus safety to deliver effective support by Facilities Management or outside vendors.Responsible for day-to-day operations issues involving the events management or custodial services function, including routine close coordination with deans and department heads.Works closely with other senior department managers to resolve operational issues, recommend policy, and process updates.Directly supervises the Supervisory Custodians, event coordinator, and indirectly supervises custodial staff and support contractors.Manages the scheduling of highly visible and in demand community spaces on campus (25-30 rooms)Serves as the primary interface and scheduler for outside entities that have been approved to rent or use facilities under purview.Responsible for developing a concept of operations that addresses staffing, standards, and cleaning approaches for each type of campus facility.Establishes short and long-range objectives for custodial operations and events management including resource and training needs.Performs personnel assessments and develops individual training plans for all assigned custodial and events personnel.Develops specifications and quality assurance plans for custodial service and other support contracts and serves as service contract manager.Reviews project documents for new construction and renovation - providing evaluations of materials and space as they relate to custodial operations requirements and ensuring department standards for equipment and material are followed.Develops requirements and procurement plans for cleaning products, monitoring changes in the industry and working with product providers and providing a focus on the use of environmentally responsible cleaning products and processes, in collaboration with departmental environmental personnel.Evaluates equipment needs and develops a long-term procurement and replacement plan, with recommendations for annual capital expenditure.Responsible for developing and managing the operating budgets for custodial services and campus events.Works closely with the Manager for Sustainability & Natural Resources to implement sustainable practices in events and services functionsResponsible to develop training schedule for monthly and weekly custodial meetings.Coordinate with appropriate vendors and internal departments snow removal plans or other emergency related needs of the academy.Manages pest control needs on campus and utilize vendors accordinglyManages and executes work orders for campus events and Custodial Services.Manages academic and dorm furniture inventory, and develops capital replacement plan.Attends workshops and seminars to gain knowledge in new processes and approaches to campus event operations.Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

Directly supervises the Supervisory Custodians and event coordinator. Indirectly supervises custodial staff and support contractors.
Position Requirements
Education
Associate's degree required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Valid driver's license required.Experience
Must be 21 years of age or older.5-7 years' experience in custodial services.At least five years in a supervisory position preferred.Experience in an institutional or campus setting preferred.Customer service experience desirable.Physical Requirements

Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work and will require the ability to remain standing for extended periods of time, go up and down flights of steps, lift and push heavy objects as well as stoop, squat, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift.Ability to lift and transport up to 50lbs without assistance.Ability to withstand exposure to inclement weather (rain, snow, sleet, freezing temperatures, etc.).Additional Requirements
