At ExistX, interns have the opportunity to work alongside our experts and contribute to innovative projects that solve real-world problems. We are seeking a detail-oriented Cybersecurity Intern to join our team, starting with an exciting collaborative project. Your internship will begin by partnering with a Project Manager and Software Developer intern to build and secure an internal research cataloging system, implementing critical security measures for sensitive research data while gaining hands-on experience in application security. As part of our dynamic team, we'll help you channel your passion for cybersecurity and emerging technologies into advancing next-generation solutions in areas like cryptography, assured autonomy, electronic warfare, communications security, and digital modeling & simulation.
You'll experience the excitement of being on the ground floor of a growing company as we transition groundbreaking research into practical applications making a difference for our customers. This is a chance to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge systems and tools while working closely with project managers and software developers.
Join our mission-driven team of emerging talent, passionate about technology and innovation. We strongly prefer candidates local to southwest Ohio (Dayton or Cincinnati areas) who can work hybrid from our Beavercreek office several days per week.
Necessary Qualifications:
- Must be a full-time student in an accredited computer science, engineering, cyber, or information security degree program
- Knowledge of core cyber security principles
- Excellent academic record, especially in math, computer science, engineering, or related technical fields
- Motivation to translate leading-edge research into innovative real-world solutions
- Intrinsic motivation to take ownership of projects and work collaboratively or independently
- Experience in multiple facets of Cybersecurity and Information Technology IT, both defensive system and application hardening as well as offensive techniques for penetration testing and security validation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cryptography, cyber-physical systems, formal verification, automated reasoning, or related research areas
- Experience with databases and SQL-injection, application fuzzing, and source code analysis
- Experience working in a research lab environment on cutting-edge projects
- Hands-on experience with cyber security systems leveraging advanced research
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C , or Java
- Active DoD Security Clearance is nice-to-have
