Exline & Company, Inc. facilitates and collaborates on a wide-range of planning projects in the Tahoe Basin and California Coast, from pursuing carbon neutral development of commercial, hospitality, affordable housing projects, residential estates to cutting edge transportation planning.
The Assistant Planner Intern/Assistant Planner will collaborate with the Exline & Company team and our array of partners on all things planning/permitting in Tahoe. Projects will include both short term permitting/entitlement work and long range planning assignments based on project need. We take projects from concept to public approval, while incorporating a sustainable approach into the planning and development process, to project completion.
Our team provides the opportunity to explore a complicated planning environment, while working in one the most beautiful places on earth. You will interact with federal, bi-state, state, county and city governmental agencies and work on a broad array of projects. The candidate will possess strong research, writing, design and graphic skills. Experience with energy reduction planning and modeling is a plus. Out of the box thinking is encouraged.
Tasks include:
- Site research and data collection from regulatory resources
- Create graphics and assemble presentations for clients and/or agencies
- Complete application forms, prepare detailed project descriptions, assemble submittal documents to applicable jurisdictions
- Assist in the drafting of land planning documents, such as community plan, area plan or specific plan
- Coordinate and collaborate with project team toward completion of projects
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies to guide project approval
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current student or recent Graduate/Bachelor’s degree in City or Urban Planning/Landscape Architecture/Architecture/ Geography or related field
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace
