Base Annual Salary: $48,000 - $52,000
The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for managing the payroll and administrative tasks for their assigned team and clients. Your goal is to help your team's clients eliminate the administrative headaches around payroll, timekeeping, and benefits administration. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of payroll, tax, benefits and general administrative responsibilities as well as a high attention to detail and desire for work to be as accurate as possible. In most instances, you are the go-to person for our clients, so you must be able to communicate effectively and have a passion for working with people. You truly become a partner to the client and their successes are your successes!
Your main objective is to provide excellent customer service, accurate payroll processing, and ensure your clients are processing as efficiently as possible with all administrative tasks related to payroll being taken care of.
JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES
Process assigned client payrolls accurately and in a timely manner
Manage tickets for your assigned payroll team to ensure accurate and timely responses to payroll questions, UKG system questions and other requests
Coordinate mailing specified live checks to client locations on time
Work collaboratively with internal HR, benefits, and tax teams to ensure all information communicated to clients is accurate and that the payrolls being processed include all necessary adjustments determined by our team to, once again, ensure accuracy
Perform customer service functions by answering client requests and questions Enter in employee changes, new hires, and terminations that clients send over to ensure all data in the UKG platform is up to date
Assist other payroll team members with double checking payroll reports and employee changes to help with the overall company goal and core value of excellence
Ensure compliance for each client according to IRS and FLSA guidelines, as well as state specific requirements
Develop, configure or work with internal implementation team to configure, and roll out more streamlined solutions for client payroll and timekeeping processes via the UKG Ready platform
Provide extensive knowledge on the UKG Ready software to answer client questions about the system and introduce them to aspects of the software that they may not be utilizing currently
Assist with other administrative payroll duties such as workers comp reporting and audits, new hire reporting, benefit administration, etc.
COMPETENCIES / REQUIRED SKILLS:
Must be able to complete work with 100% accuracy
Solid understanding of payroll processing, FLSA guidelines as related to payroll compliance, garnishments or child supports, and how insurance or benefits flow to payroll
Basic tax knowledge.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as a high level of patience, understanding, and tact, often under difficult circumstances
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to handle data with confidentiality
Ability to follow verbal and written directions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

EDUCATION/BACKGROUND
Prior payroll experience preferred
UKG Ready experience preferred
Customer service experience required
EXODUS HR GROUP REQUIREMENTS
It is recommended that employees obtain an FPC or CPP Certification within one year, if not currently certified
Must communicate and consult with manager regarding any serious payroll or Client issues for resolution
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI)
Must retain a 98% accuracy in payroll processing. This is determined on a monthly basis and is based on additional pay statements processed that the client is not charged for.
95% satisfaction rating based on surveys that are sent out to clients on a quarterly basis
GROWTH TRAJECTORY
The payroll coordinator role is the starting point for employees to begin to grow and advance in their payroll career at Exodus HR. Employees who will see success in this role and will be ready for advanced opportunities will be curious individuals who are passionate about learning. This role provides employees opportunities to learn new skills and to grow their payroll knowledge base to include payroll tax, employee benefits, entry level HR administration and basic accounting.
As employees grow in their knowledge and consistently meet their KPI requirements, the next opportunity for advancement in the payroll department is the payroll specialist position. Payroll Coordinators can expect to obtain the required skills and knowledge base to move into the payroll specialist position within 1 - 2 years. Apart from a deep understanding of the payroll process with Exodus HR, the additional skills and required knowledge is as follows:
? An understanding of third party sick pay and how to process those payments in UKG.
? An understanding of journal entries and GL’s. This includes how to build the JE’s in UKG and update them when changes arise.
? An understanding of basic tax compliance and laws. This will be crucial as a payroll specialist due to the tax correction payroll’s being a responsibility of that role.
? A deep understanding of the core payroll module in UKG. Employees should be able to configure all steps of the payroll set up checklist to demonstrate their UKG knowledge, understanding of system requirements, and an understanding of all payroll functionality within the UKG Ready platform.
Commitment to the organization is important and rewarded, but Exodus HR leadership will also look for employees who are developing themselves and their knowledge for promotion opportunities. This role can also prepare employees to move into other departments and can be a stepping stone into the benefits administrator role, accounting coordinator role, HR coordinator, or tax coordinator role.
