Exodus Recovery, Inc (Exodus) is looking to hire a per diem HIM Coordinator for our CRTP program located in Los Angeles, CA.
Provides data and billing support to the County of Los Angeles, San Diego, Fresno, and Orange County Department of Mental Health (“Department”) contracted programs or other contracted/certified services and/or programs.
The HIM Coordinator manages the day-to-day operations of a healthcare facility’s HIM department, ensuring accurate and timely maintenance of patient medical records. This includes overseeing the concurrent review process for Psychiatric Health Facilities and Crisis Residential Treatment Services (PHF & CRTP), in compliance with DHCS requirements. The coordinator is responsible for collecting billing data, entering it into the EMR system, and ensuring medical records are complete and assembled correctly. They also ensure proper storage of files according to established procedures and maintain the integrity of both administrative and medical records.
Additional duties include answering phones, faxing documents, and coordinating with external vendors. The HIM Coordinator collaborates with clinical staff to maintain quality, accessibility, and compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient health information.
Requirements:
- Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in Health Information Management, medical records, or a related field, with hands-on experience in managing EMR systems and maintaining accurate patient records.
- Proficiency in billing data collection and data entry into EMR systems, with a keen eye for detail to ensure accurate and complete medical records.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain medical and administrative records in accordance with organizational policies, storage procedures, and retention guidelines.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal staff, patients, and external vendors to facilitate the smooth operation of the HIM department.
- Strong organizational skills, multitasking abilities, and attention to detail to ensure timely completion of tasks and the integrity of patient health information.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and the ability to adapt quickly to new software or systems.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive patient information.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED, Bachelor’s degree or administrative assistant experience preferred.
- Current CPR and MAB/CPI Certification preferred
