This is a HYBRID role, and candidate is expected to work at client location in Bellevue WA for 3 to 5 days a week depending on the client need.

We are seeking an experienced Unix Administrator with strong expertise in Unix Shell scripting, Linux administration, and programming skills in Perl and Python. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience managing Unix/Linux systems, automating tasks through shell scripts, and performing system-level troubleshooting and maintenance. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our Unix/Linux infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
System Administration: Manage, configure, and maintain Unix/Linux-based systems ensuring optimal performance, uptime, and security.
Shell Scripting: Develop and maintain custom Unix Shell scripts for automating administrative tasks, system monitoring, and reporting.
Scripting in Perl & Python: Create, modify, and optimize scripts in Perl and Python for automation, data processing, and system management.
Monitoring and Maintenance: Regularly monitor system performance, identify issues, and take appropriate corrective actions to ensure system stability and reliability.
Security & Compliance: Implement security best practices on Unix/Linux systems, including regular updates, patch management, and vulnerability assessments.
Backup & Recovery: Implement and manage backup strategies, ensure data integrity, and perform recovery procedures as required.
User Management: Manage user accounts, permissions, and file systems, ensuring proper access control.
Performance Tuning: Identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions to optimize system performance.
Troubleshooting: Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to system performance, networking, and hardware failures.
Collaboration: Work closely with development teams, network administrators, and other stakeholders to support IT infrastructure and improve system efficiency.
Required Skills:
5 years of experience in Unix/Linux system administration.
Expert-level proficiency in Unix Shell scripting.
Strong programming skills in Perl and Python.
In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS).
Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix).
Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, etc.).
Strong understanding of security best practices, including firewalls, access controls, and patch management.
Experience with automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).
Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Knowledge of DevOps tools and practices.
Familiarity with database management and backup tools (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
Certifications in Unix/Linux systems administration (RHCSA, RHCE, CompTIA Linux ).
