Your work environment at EXP
EXP's Transportation and Infrastructure Practice provides comprehensive planning, design and construction engineering services for all types of roadway, bridge, water resource, rail, transit and aviation projects. With a unique multidisciplinary team approach, we have a history of successfully delivering complex infrastructure projects. We are currently looking to grow and enhance our construction engineering and inspection (CE I) practice and are seeking an energetic Resident Engineer to work within our Chicago Office. Reporting to the Construction Department Manager, the ideal candidate will focus on delivering infrastructure projects for wide variety of clients throughout northeast Illinois, but with a focus on working within the Chicago Region.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Plans, reviews, and assigns work of construction field office personnel.
- Reviews project activities with client and contractor's field supervisor to resolve disputes and other project issues.
- Reads and interprets complex contract plans and specifications.
- Reads and interprets construction contract language.
- Monitors Contractor progress against approved schedules.
- Reviews / coordinates and prepares responses to project correspondence, RFIs and technical submittals.
- Proactively manages construction changes and claims and work with client to resolve.
- Leads construction meetings with clients and contractors.
- Assists client and Project Manager with stakeholder coordination.
- Works with clients and contractor to manage construction budget and schedule.
- Assists Project Manager with management of project budget, schedule and staffing.
- Assists Project Manager to maintain client communications and relationships.
- Mentors staff on CE I responsibilities and tasks.
What your experience looks like
The salary range for this role is $125,000 to $175,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's skill set, experience, certifications, and geographic location. Compensation may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor.
