In this role, you will be a part of the Transportation team based in our New Orleans, Louisiana office in a hybrid capacity having the opportunity to work on a variety of transportation and infrastructure projects with a focus on highway, railway and transit structures including bridge, culverts and retaining walls.

Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will be a part of the Transportation team based in our New Orleans, Louisiana office in a hybrid capacity having the opportunity to work on a variety of transportation and infrastructure projects with a focus on highway, railway and transit structures including bridge, culverts and retaining walls.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Lead the structural design for all project types, including complex bridge designs
- Lead the planning and schematic/geometric layout of new structures
- Perform analysis and design calculations according to the applicable design codes; use computer programs as appropriate
- Prepare plan drawings and details, construction specifications and design calculations
- Perform Construction and Life Cycle Cost estimates and prepare load rating calculations
- Oversee project construction administration including reviews of shop drawings and Requests for Information
- Supervise and direct staff engineers and technicians to meet project deadlines as well as scope and budget requirements
- Assist project managers with scoping and budgeting for structural work and be responsible for quality assurance of deliverables
- BS in Structural Engineering.
- Licensed PE in Louisiana.
- Experience with LADOTD Required
- Prior experience with complex bridge projects a plus
- Experience with proposals and business development activities.
- Proficient in MicroStation
- Knowledge AASHTO and bridge analysis, design and detailing preferred
- 10 years progressively responsible relevant experience in a Structural Engineer role
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to direct and supervise staff engineers and technicians
- Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with the use of computers including spreadsheets, word processing, and engineering software and ability to prepare electronic design calculation documents
- Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively within multi-discipline project teams that may be remote
- Ability to plan ones’ own time and manage the time of others, as needed, demonstrates good time management skills
- Ability to problem solve, complete assigned tasks efficiently, and exercise sound engineering judgment
- Ability to work on several projects concurrently
- Strong sense of urgency and self- initiative to meet client deadlines
- Knowledge of structural analysis software including SAP-CSI, AASHTOWareBrR, LARSA 4D or similar preferred
- Ability to mentor Structural engineers
- Strong leadership, project management skills and the ability to work in a team environment
