Position: Project Accountant
Reporting to: Corporate Controller & Property Accounting Controller
Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly and year-end close activities and reconciliations for a set of Expansive properties
- Perform monthly and year-end close activities for corporate entities and company-wide allocation entries
- Approve and process invoices for payment
- Maintain fixed asset registers and accumulated depreciation schedules
- Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial information regarding profitability, capital expenditures, and performance against budget for the company's portfolio of assets
- Participate in cash management and treasury functions where needed
- Assist in external audit compliance
- Ad-hoc project work as needed
Attributes and Qualifications:
- Willingness to learn and desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment
- Ideal candidate would have 1 year of accounting experience, ideally at a real estate operating company, but candidates with limited work experience but with an academic background in accounting
- Demonstrated interest in accounting
- Ability to work cross-functionally and asynchronously with remote and in-person teams
- Excellent organizational skills and discipline to stay focused
Location: Chicago, IL
Education: A bachelor's degree or higher is strongly preferred, ideally in accounting.
Compensation: Starting salary $60,000 plus bonus potential. This position is intended as an entry-level position with
potential for growth into a Property Accountant.
