The Tennessee Department of Education is hiring a Technical Writer to prepare, create, and review documents and other communications for new technical applications, with a focus on end-user documentation. Position is remote, but there could be 1-2 in-person meetings per year in Nashville. Examples of deliverable include, but not limited to:
Technical diagrams
Process workflows
Program documentation
Application user manual
Training coursework
Training videos for common tasks
Internal and external communications
The candidate should have the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:
Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills
Experience in creating documentation for audiences with different levels of technical skills
Experience in presenting technical information in a live setting, such as classroom training, presentations, or video conference
Experience documenting technical applications
Experience in creating end user documentation for technical applications
Experience in formatting a document for ease in reading and understanding
Excellent customer service and collaboration skills
Experience with Microsoft O365 and Adobe Creative suite
Experience with Web editing
Experience with status reporting and documentation
Experience disseminating technical information in an easy-to-understand language for a non-technical audience
Ability to take existing and potential content and improve
Ability to communicate complex ideas in a concise manner
