HSE CONSULTANT
PRIMARY PURPOSE & FUNCTION:
HSE Consultant - Develops a strong and personal presence with field employees, working with them to do their jobs safely. Responds to incident and accident call outs in a timely manner keeping the employee?s health their main concern. Utilizes tools to supply an effective safety meeting, implement corrective actions and conduct formal investigations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promote health and safety within EPS and customer work environments
- As a member of the Safety Department, respond immediately to workplace incidents when called to do so by Operations, remain on call and ready to respond during designated intervals as part of the ?responder? on call group, and when not ?on call?, respond when called upon in cases where multiple incidents may be occurring, the on call responder cannot respond, and other situations as needed
- When called upon to do so, assist injured employees in getting the most appropriate medical care reasonably possible through company occupational physicians and managing the care so as to prevent an unnecessary OSHA recordable
- Correspond with injured or ill personnel for risk management purposes as well as caring
- Correspond with our customers? safety representatives and foremen to coordinate activities and relay information
- Analyze workplaces and design initiatives to control, eliminate, and prevent injuries
- Inspect workplaces to investigate whether they are in compliance with state and federal laws or company or client safety and environmental policies
- Conduct analyses on the effectiveness of safety and health programs
- Identify hazardous conditions that affect workers, property, the environment, and the general public
- Help develop new safety practices, conduct training sessions for field employees and management, and monitor and assess the program's progress
- Develop and effectively deliver safety meeting topics appropriate to the current field force
- Investigate the cause of workplace accidents or illnesses
- Using approved methods, forms, & processes (TapRoot or Apollo), conduct Root Cause Analyses of workplace incidents as directed
- Following workplace accidents or illnesses, develop corrective action plans and follow-up to completion
- Prepare accident reports, workplace injury trend analyses, Occupational Safety and Health Administration forms, and initiatives for control and correction of hazardous conditions.
- Stay up-to-date with current regulations with regulatory bodies such as DOT, OSHA, etc. and update company personnel as necessary
- Perform other duties as required

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking, and strong organization, detail and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate project management skills, including facility in managing and prioritizing projects with multiple and often competing deadlines, and ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work independently, to work under supervision, and to work in a team-based and goal-oriented environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel

- Must possess proficient knowledge of safety strategies, laws, and regulations
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Internet.
- Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision
- Ability to work effectively with a broad range of people and other departments, and needs to be an effective team player.
- Must be able to professionally partner with members of senior management.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- 1-3 years? experience in Occupational Health and Safety
- Must have P&A Experience
- Must have Clerk Experience
- Must have HSE Experience
- Must be good with Well EZ and spreadsheets
- Occupational Health and Safety Degree, or COSS (preferred)
- Self-starter with good analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Bilingual English & Spanish (Preferred)
