The Business Analyst – Data & Compliance is responsible for leveraging data analytics to drive improvement, identify risks, and ensure compliance with internal controls and auditing requirements within our Legacy Operational Experience environment. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including data owners, control performers, and auditors—to analyze and interpret critical data, develop actionable insights, and maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other regulatory frameworks. A successful candidate will have a solid foundation in data analytics and visualization, coupled with an understanding of audit fundamentals and internal control processes.

The Business Analyst – Data & Compliance is responsible for leveraging data analytics to drive improvement, identify risks, and ensure compliance with internal controls and auditing requirements within our Legacy Operational Experience environment. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including data owners, control performers, and auditors—to analyze and interpret critical data, develop actionable insights, and maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other regulatory frameworks. A successful candidate will have a solid foundation in data analytics and visualization, coupled with an understanding of audit fundamentals and internal control processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Analysis, Interpretation, & Visualization
- Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources.
- Clean and preprocess data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
- Develop scripts and workflows to automate data collection and processing tasks.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and emerging risks.
- Apply statistical and analytical techniques (e.g., hypothesis testing, predictive modeling) to derive insights from complex datasets.
- Use data modeling approaches to inform business objectives and decision-making.
- Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using data visualization tools.
- Leverage data storytelling principles to effectively communicate insights and recommendations.
- Present findings in a clear, visually compelling manner to a variety of audiences.
- Validate data accuracy, completeness, and integrity across all reporting and analytics outputs.
- Identify and address data quality issues or discrepancies in collaboration with data owners.
- Implement data quality controls and monitoring mechanisms to maintain ongoing accuracy.
- Maintain an updated list of risks, controls, and procedures related to Legacy audit activities, ensuring adherence to SOX and other requirements.
- Support IS audit procedures around IT general and application controls, working with 2nd Line IS Compliance and Program Managers.
- Review and perform QA on audit evidence and procedural documentation.
- Facilitate audit walkthroughs of IT controls alongside process/control owners.

Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in data-related work or IT audit.
- Strong understanding of data management practices, including data flow or process mapping.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and data visualization tools (e.g., Excel, BI platforms).
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to facilitate small groups and conduct training sessions.
- Results-oriented with a consistent focus on quality and guidelines.
- Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- High level of integrity, ownership, accountability, and initiative.
- Familiarity with audit frameworks (SOX, COSO, COBIT) and internal controls over financial reporting.
- Experience with GitLab for version control, CI/CD pipelines, and collaborative development workflows.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, including database design, querying, and optimization techniques.
- Knowledge of data sensitivity levels and protection of critical data.
- Hands-on experience using mapping tools (e.g., Visio) for process or data flow diagrams.
- Understanding of auditing principles and enterprise IT environments.
- 3 years of public accounting/auditing or industry experience.
