Job Description
Scope of position:
To lead the Expeditors warehouse in the pursuit of Warehouse Excellence by promoting a culture of Safety & Security, meets high quality standards through continuous improvement, ensuring the management of multiple product needs, people, process, and costs.
Works with: District Management, Product Management, Security Health and Safety, District Business Operations, Information Systems, Trade Compliance
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Facility Compliance
- Ensure a safe and secure work environment, following all OSHA rules, as well as state and local laws.
- Maintain warehouse procedures and Expeditors Security & Safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and professional facility meeting all the warehouse excellence requirements.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained in a safe operational condition, equipment procurement, maintenance, and facility repair.
- Ensuring that we are meeting all safety/security process and procedures and routinely monitors it for compliance
Labor/Development Management
- Assist in communicating our culture mission and goals.
- Assist Supervisors with Interviews, onboarding, developing, and supporting staff within area of responsibility, includes permanent and contingent staff.
- Work with Supervisors to coordinate scheduling and ensure proper coverage.
- Support employee versatility (cross training).
- Assist supervisors in managing contingent workforce with the agreed upon process.
- Assist supervisors on managing employees based on the employee handbook.
- Assists in development of Supervisors and Leads.
- Leading team meetings when Manager is not available.
Operations and Quality
- Must have a strong relationship with product managers and be able to collaborate with them and teams to effectively manage warehouse operations.
- Act as backup interface with customers, service providers and government officials, including involvement of transitioning new clients.
- Must have to ability to work any hour, any shift on any day if necessary.
- Assists with supporting company, district, and product goals.
- Oversee the processes, following operational standards (OPS) and KPI expectations.
- Improve safety, quality, process and cost through continuous improvement methods
- Set up training and SOPs for all products
- Is the escalation contact for: cargo loss issues, investigations, cctv.
- Compare performance of key financial indicators amongst your assigned Peer Group to identify opportunities for improvement.
Financial
- Manages weekly reporting of man hours, OT for all warehouses.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor degree or equivalent related experience
- Proven Success in previous Management/Supervisory role
- Knowledge/ Skills:
- Solid understanding of OSHA rules, state, local and company Health and Safety rules and compliance.
- Strong decision-making and coaching skills. Able to drive results
- Able to train, coach and mentor warehouse associates.
- Strong team leadership, customer service and account management skills
- Solid and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong process improvement skills
- Critical thinker & resourceful
