What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor position at Experience Recovery?
JOB SUMMARY
Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselors will be responsible for the delivery of various therapeutic services, which provides optimal quality care and consistency to both the individual and the course of their recovery.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Delivers various therapeutic services in all of the recovery programs at Experience Recovery.
B. Screens and evaluates prospective individuals to Experience Recovery prior to admission, employing intervention techniques, interviewing and assessment skills.
C. Provides appropriate referral options when indicated.
D. Initiates personal contact with newly admitted individuals providing support and orientation to the program philosophy.
E. Conducts Biopsychosocial Assessment, assessing the individual’s needs and identifying presenting problems and summarizes findings in the written, integrated assessment.
F. Demonstrates ability to develop Integrated Summaries relative to the medical and psychiatric antecedents of the dependency process.
G. Conducts groups and individual sessions per program standards while utilizing clinical skills to facilitate group process and individual/family sessions.
H. Appropriately Documents, on a daily and timely basis, the individual’s progress and participation.
I. Conducts all care in a professional and therapeutic manner, placing the individual’s dignity and rights above personality differences.
J. Develop and implements an individualized recovery plan for each individual using measurable goals and objectives by obtaining information from the intake assessment, medical history and physical screening, family assessment and psychosocial assessment and uses this information to formulate a recovery plan that is individualized within the appropriate time designated for Residents/Clients admitting into Experience Recovery.
K. Coordinate continuum of care planning – working with clinical team, admissions team and Residents/Clients family
L. Meets individually with the individual periodically before and after weekly staffing.
M. Assists the individual in discharge planning as needed and ensures proper communication of each the individuals progress through record keeping and verbal interaction with the staff.
N. Maintains appropriate written documentation in the individual’s chart on a daily basis.
O. Maintains current licensure/certification, when applicable.
P. Attends all meetings as required. Maintains professional relationships.
Q. Acts as representative of Experience Recovery to the community and educational institutions by request of supervisor.
R. Observes Experience Recovery personnel requirements and follows all current and ethical laws of CADAC/NADAC.
S. Any and all other duties or tasks that may be assigned at any time.

§ Understand the obligation of the addiction professional to participate in prevention as well as treatment.
§ Understand and apply setting-specific policies and procedures for handling crisis or dangerous situations, including safety measures for Residents/Clients and staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a certified or registered counselor or with one of the following certifying bodies:
- Addiction Counselor Certification Board of California (an official affiliate of CAADE)
- California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP)
- Registered Alcohol and Drug Technician (RADT)
Previous experience work in a treatment facility (1-2 years preferred)
Required Trainings (Must be obtained prior to start date and no later than 5 business days after start date)
- HIPAA Certification
- CPR and First Aid Certification
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
