SUMMARY
The Director, Manufacturing is responsible for leading and optimizing operations across a multi-location network of facilities.
- This strategic leader will oversee safety, production and quality performance to meet the demands of internal stakeholders and customers across a range of industries.
- While providing operational oversight for the entire network, this role will take a hands-on approach to managing a large facility in North Carolina, ensuring best-in-class manufacturing practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operational Leadership: Provide strategic and tactical leadership for four manufacturing facilities, ensuring alignment with company goals and customer expectations. Champion lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies to optimize workflows and reduce waste.
- Champion Safety: Ensure a culture of safety excellence across all manufacturing facilities by implementing and enforcing rigorous safety protocols, conducting regular audits, and fostering employee engagement in workplace safety initiatives.
- Customer Focus: Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service and Product Management to ensure on-time delivery and product quality across multiple industries.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance manufacturing performance, cost control, and scalability.
- Leadership & Team Development: Manage and mentor a team of seven direct reports, fostering a high-performance culture that emphasizes accountability, safety, and collaboration.
- Budget & Cost Management: Oversee operational budgets, and partner with finance to identify and drive cost efficiencies across the network.
CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10 years of manufacturing leadership experience, preferably within safety apparel, textiles, or protective equipment industries.
- Proven track record of managing multi-site operations with a focus on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Strong background in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience in industries with stringent quality and compliance requirements, such as automotive or food processing.
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to engage at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team-building skills.
