Our client is a family-owned business with over 65 years in business of supplying companies with high precision, complex components ranging from 2 mm to 2,000 mm up to 3,000mm in length. With 8 plants worldwide in 5 countries, this position will be located at their plant in Spartanburg County, SC.
The ideal candidate would have hands-on experience working in a similar environment including CNC or cam-controlled multi-spindle automatic machine tools. He / she would have solid knowledge of machining, turned and milled part processes, continuous improvement strategies within a manufacturing environment as well as project leadership.
Summary :
Process Engineering specializes in areas of process engineering and continuous improvement, such
as the development and implementation of internal systems to obtain goals and objective.
The process engineering member reports on the progress of continuous improvement projects through directs and coordinates activities of the Manufacturing organization in terms of process flow and equipment required relative to manufacturing.
Identifies and corrects problems with the processes relating to safety, quality and productivity.
Duties and responsibilities include :
- Advises and assists the facility in their efforts to reduce product and service costs through innovation and continuous improvement activities.
- Oversees the development of all new or revised product and processes including advanced product planning activities.
- Plans, directs and oversees activities relating to the development, application and maintenance of process flow required for the manufacturing of products.
- Identifies process flow and equipment required, within the manufacturing operation, for Request for Quote.
- Able to develop programs for CNC machines, lathe, milling, etc.
- Implements corrective and preventative actions including investigation, documentation and verification of continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing pertinent issues.
- Creates and develops layouts and part priority sheets, relative to product manufacturing.
- Define and develops, cycle times, understands investments, tooling costs, and addresses these requirements with a full lean manufacturing mindset to minimize waste.
- Reports the progress and shortfalls of responsibilities relative to process engineering for management to review.
- Creates and fosters a culture of understanding and learning; "learning organization", throughout the organization, by acting as a teacher / mentor, for all related manufacturing process, and provides input for newly created processes, by embracing a "subject matter" lead role.
- Work closely with the purchasing, quality, sales, operations, materials and engineering departments on development of new programs and engineering changes.
- Develops standards, with written documentation, for the qualification of company processes.
