Dental Biller (with Medical Billing Experience)

Busy successful multi specialty private dental group looking to hire a skilled and experienced Dental and Medical Biller to join our team. As the Senior Biller, you will be responsible for overseeing the billing operations of two busy Manhattan locations in Manhattan and Tribeca.

You will ensure accurate and timely submission of claims, handle patient billing inquiries and coordinate with insurance companies to resolve billing issues and ensure timely reimbursement. You may also assist with insurance verifications and pre-authorizations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of dental billing procedures, and cross billing to medical insurance for applicable procedures. You must also have good communication skills and the ability to lead a team effectively.

This is a in person position. You must be willing to commute to and work in downtown Manhattan 4-5 days a week during regular business hours.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the billing process for all dental services provided by the practice.
• Ensure accurate and timely submission of insurance claims through various electronic platforms.
• Verify all relevant information and forms are correct, complete and accurate before claims are sent out.
• Review and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) from insurance companies to resolve claim denials and discrepancies.
• Follow up on outstanding claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
• Coordinate with insurance companies and patients to address billing inquiries and disputes.
• Assist with verifying patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to treatment.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of dental billing codes, regulations, and industry trends.
• Obtain necessary authorizations and referrals for procedures requiring pre-approval.
• Train and supervise billing staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
• Implement insurance and billing best practices and workflow improvements to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as front desk, treatment coordinators and clinical staff, to optimize operations and improve patient experience.
• Assist with audits and compliance reviews as needed.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of hands on experience in dental billing or healthcare revenue cycle management, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Must be proficient with Dentrix.
• Proficiency in dental billing software and electronic claims submission platforms.
• Strong understanding of dental insurance plans, including PPOs and DHMOs.
• Strong Knowledge and experience with ADA and CDT (Current Dental Terminology) codes.
• Implement billing process around cross billing to medical insurance.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, insurance companies, and internal stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Leadership abilities with a track record of successfully managing and motivating a team.
• Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) certification a plus.

Must have both dental and medical billing experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
