Mechanic Apprentice Responsibilities:
Following company-created checklists to inspect and test chassis.
Performing standard mechanical repairs, such as changing brake shoes on S cam air brake systems.
Adjusting air brake slack adjuster to specification.
Learning repair techniques under the supervision of the Mechanic.
Writing labor, time, and parts on forms.
Performing chassis lubrication.
Testing chassis before and after repair procedures.
in-field testing electrical devices to determine functionality.
Maintaining the workshop areas and keeping inventory areas well-organized.
Taking chassis drum brake assembly apart to perform inspections.
Mechanic Apprentice Requirements:
High school diploma or GED.
A completed certificate or diploma in Auto Mechanics may be advantageous.
Must have a valid driver's license and be familiar with both manual and automatic transmission types.
Strong understanding of mechanics.
Excellent communication skills.
Good analytical skills.
Physical fitness and stamina to stoop, crawl, work laying down, and lift heavy machinery.
Salary : $22 - $25
