This role requires strong attention to detail, experience with takeoff and proposal writing, and a solid understanding of materials, labor costs, and industry standards. You will work closely with sales teams, project managers, and vendors to ensure competitive and profitable bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and blueprints to determine scope and materials required.
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam and other relevant estimating tools.
- Prepare detailed, accurate cost estimates, including materials, labor, and installation costs.
- Work with suppliers and vendors, including Mecho , Springs, Draper, Hunter Douglas, Insolroll , and Lutron , to obtain pricing and ensure competitive bids.
- Collaborate with sales and project management teams to develop pricing strategies.
- Write and submit professional proposals for bids and RFPs, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Identify potential project risks, cost-saving opportunities, and value-engineering alternatives.
- Assist in bid preparation, proposal writing, and submitting estimates within deadlines.
- Communicate with general contractors, architects, and clients to clarify project details as needed.
- Stay updated on industry trends, pricing, and new window treatment solutions.
- 2 years of experience in estimating for commercial window treatments, construction, or a related industry .
- Strong knowledge of commercial window treatment products, materials, and installation processes.
- Experience writing proposals and responding to RFPs .
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents .
- Proficiency in Bluebeam and other estimating/takeoff software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with window treatment vendors, including Mecho , Springs, Draper, Hunter Douglas, Insolroll , and Lutron .
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with motorized and automated window treatments.
- Familiarity with industry-specific estimating software such as Bluebeam.
- Prior experience working with general contractors, architects, or designers.
